Casts are not waterproof

By Ultimate, Oct 19 2017 04:00PM

Casts are used to stabilize a broken bone and keep the bone from being moved. Casts are made out of plaster or fiberglass. Before the cast is put on, the injured body part is wrapped in soft cotton or polyester padding. If this padding gets wet, it is almost impossible to dry and will need to be replaced. Failure to replace the cast could result in discomfort, infection and/or reduced bone stability.
